With this opportunity to share my thoughts about CORR, I want to acknowledge how grateful I am for all those who are working to end the harm caused by sexual trauma. April is ‘Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month’ (SAAM). SAAM is working to raise awareness on sexual assault and educate the community about how to prevent sexual abuse. SAAM’s theme this year is, “Together We Act, United We Change.” CORR is dedicated to finding new ways to bring information to our community. We know that community education is a huge prevention driver.
CORR offers four cost-free Support Groups: Women Survivor’s Support Group, Family Support Group, Community Support Group, and Member’s Support Group. It is through our Support Groups that we are delivering the prevention message. For instance, CORR invites early prevention by offering support to those whose behaviors suggest risk of future sexual harm. We encourage everyone, including our CORR members, to notice those around us who could benefit from our Support Groups.
This month we are holding our Community Support Group on Thursday April 24th from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about what CORR does, answer questions that you might have, or get you the support you may need. For meeting details, please contact us at 925-267-8877.
